| Course Description | The purpose of this course is to provide a solid foundation in probability and statistics for use in economics, business and other social sciences. It is primarily intended to prepare students for the further study of econometrics and other economics subjects. Topics to be covered in the course include probability theory, random variable, distributions, expectation, random variable transformations, special distributions, random sample, law of large numbers, central limit theorem, properties of estimators, estimation methods, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, Bayesian analysis, and nonparametric methods. |
