| Course Description | This course will provide an understanding of your professional obligations as a legal practitioner. You develop the knowledge, skills and values to maintain compliant trust account records according to law and good practice. Topics include but are not limited to: -Fiduciary duties and trust accounts -What is trust money -Risks to the trust account such as fraud and money laundering -Record keeping requirements -Receiving and paying out trust money -Cashbooks -Trust ledgers and Transfer Journals -Reconciling the trust account -Accounting to clients (trust account statements) -Registers of investments, securities and direct payments -End of matter procedures and responsibilities -External supervision of trust accounts -Ethics -Costs -Trusts and Office Accounting -Practice Management -Risk Management |
