| Course Description | This course examines the role of international law in addressing global environmental problems, in particular climate change and the protection of biological diversity. It addresses not only the relevant legal principles, concepts and obligations relating to such problems but also the scientific, political, economic and social dimensions thereof. It also aims to evaluate the effectiveness of international environmental law in terms of its implementation and enforceability. Specific topics will include: -Overview of global environmental problems; -Introduction to international environmental law -Principles and concepts in international environmental law -Biodiversity and wildlife conservation -Climate change -Natural resources and habitat protection -Human rights and the environment -The interface between international and domestic environmental law -Implementation, compliance and enforcement of international environmental law. |
