| Course Description | Contemporary Crime and Criminal Justice is increasingly characterised by the globalisation of criminal activities and international efforts to combat transnational crime. The focus of this course is with the growing body of international criminal law, increasing numbers of international conventions to combat transnational crime and domestic efforts in Australia to accede to and implement this body of law. This course is concerned with the criminalisation of transnational criminal activities, and national, regional and international efforts to investigate such crime and prosecute offenders. The course examines the opportunities and limitations of international conventions on the prevention of crime. Australia's experiences with transnational criminal activities and its efforts to fight these activities. |
