The Honours Writers on Writing Course provides students with a writing workshop and the study of writers and writing. The writing workshop provides students with a range of workshopping opportunities aimed at developing the skills and techniques of writing across a broad range of genres, forms and styles. The development of critical reading skills and the application to their own work in developing exegetical work will be one aspect of the course. The central aim of the course is to develop a broad knowledge of the various fields of creative writing, whilst allowing for the intensive development of writing skills in genres of choice. Honours students will gain a sound background in the historical and current states of the publishing industry. Topics to be covered may include discussion of the following: point of view, narrative, voice, experiments in writing, publishing trends, and the various forms and genres of writing.
