The Centre for Personalised Cancer Medicine is a University of Adelaide research centre focusing on improving the outcomes for cancer patients at all levels, progressing research that makes a positive impact on cancer medicine, and training clinical and translational researchers.
The Centre brings together a critical mass of researchers at the University ranging from basic mechanistic to translational and clinical research. The Centre aims to drive the integration of these multi-disciplinary research approaches to develop advances in personalised cancer care.
The premise of the Centre is to be cognisant of the cancer patient’s journey:
- Prevention
- Susceptibility and screening
- Diagnosis and risk assessment
- Treatment, response, symptom control and clinical support
- Survival and rehabilitation
- Palliative care
To drive the translation of research into the clinical practice of personalised cancer care, it is essential that there is integration at all levels of the patient’s journey.
The Centre is the pre-eminent body in the University that represents basic and clinical cancer researchers.
