About the Centre
The University of Adelaide's Frome Road campus has world class researchers involved in all aspects of cancer research, from basic sciences to clinical evaluation. In addition, we have cross-disciplinary expertise in cutting-edge technologies in chemistry and photonics, which when brought together in the context of translational cancer research can provide exciting new opportunities in cancer diagnosis and therapeutics, including symptom control.
The culture of the CPCM is one of innovation and flexibility which creates an agile research approach that is of world class. These aspects of translational research facilitate dialogue and synergies that allow access to grant funding sources previously not accessible to individual cancer researchers.
Our Aims
- To exploit cross disciplinary approaches to develop new cancer therapeutics and associated diagnostics.
- To integrate laboratory and clinical research to optimise the treatment of cancers (increased effectiveness and reduced adverse effects) via a personalised medicines approach that will improve cancer patient outcomes.
- To provide a vibrant inter-disciplinary discourse that will maximise opportunities for partnerships and generate new directions in collaborative research projects
- To provide an academic structure and an integrated research and clinical environment for training HDR students. A major goal is to attract and train physician-scientists and clinical researchers.
