    Honours is a 1 year program consisting of a research project and associated theoretical work

    An Honours year provides professional training in a chosen area of specialisation, providing the opportunity to experience scientific research first hand.

    Researchers in the Faculty of Sciences at the University of Adelaide are international leaders in their fields, join them for your Honours year and work at the cutting edge of science and technology.

    During an Honours year, you will learn new techniques and broaden your skill base, opening the doors to increased job opportunities  

    Honours can give you a competitive edge in the job market, or if you are interested in further study, it is an important foundation for postgraduate research.

  • Career Opportunities

    The scientific approach to problem-solving, maturity and self-discipline gained during the Honours year equips our graduates for a wide variety of careers.  Examples of the jobs that our Honours graduates find are: policy advisors, consultants, science communicators, analysts and researchers in universities, hospitals, government and industry. 

     Further Study

    Honours graduates may choose to continue their research training with postgraduate study such as a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD).  A PhD is usually a 3 year program that provides students with the opportunity to carry out an original research project and explore in great detail a specific area of science.
