  • Program Outline

    Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Management is an area of prime importance in the management of enterprises and other workplaces, generating a demand for qualified occupational health and safety professionals.

    The program is offered in a partnership between the University of Adelaide (Discipline of Public Health) and the University of South Australia (School of Psychology).

    The program is recognised by SafeWork SA and Safework Australia, as well as the Safety Institute of Australia, the Australasian Faculty of Occupational and Environmental Medicine and other relevant OHS professional organisations.

    The Master of Occupational Health and Safety (M.O.H.&S.) consists of coursework and a dissertation and can be completed in three semesters of full-time or six semesters of part-time study.

    All candidates shall complete 24 units selected from the following elective courses:

    • Occupational Health & Safety Practicum (6 units)
    • Occupational and Environmental Health Studies (3 units)
    • Advanced Occupational Hygiene (3 units)
    • Occupational Toxicology (3 units)
    • Practical Occupational Health (3 units)

    Offered by UniSA:

    • Advanced OHS Management (3 units)
    • Occupational Safety (3 units)
    • OHS Management and Law IIG (3 units)

    Offered by both universities:

    • OHS Research Methods (3 units)
    • OHSM Dissertation (6 units)

    Or, other courses offered by the University of Adelaide or other universities which the Faculty approves for presentation in lieu of elective courses listed above to the value of 6 units.

    Dissertation

    Candidates may complete a research course and dissertation in lieu of 12 elective units, provided that the course OHS Research Methods, or equivalent, is completed prior to commencement.
