The Masters award is open to students who are graduates of health-related disciplines or who have relevant experience. Students may build on a certificate to achieve a diploma, and on a diploma to achieve a master's degree.
The program aims to stimulate students to think creatively about the the social, cultural, economic and environmental determinants of health and illness in populations and about the organisation and delivery of public health services, including policies and practices that support and improve the health of people.
The program consists of course work, comprising core courses and electives, and may include a dissertation on a research project or a practicum. While students are free to choose any combination of electives, and to make their award as general as they wish, they may choose to focus on a particular area of public health.
Our awards are well known to the South Australian Department of Health, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, as well as the Public Health Association of Australia, the Faculty of Public Health Medicine and other relevant public health bodies.
