  • Program Outline

    This program is intended for graduates from other disciplines who wish to pursue studies of design in the built environment. The two-semester Graduate Diploma in Design Studies (Landscape) can be taken alone or as the first part of the professionally accredited academic programs of Master of Architecture (Coursework) or Master of Landscape Architecture.

    The program emphasis is upon environmental design that weaves the realms of nature and culture together through project-based learning approaches, to develop creative and analytical problem solving skills. Particular attention will be given to contemporary landscape issues and design themes relevant to South Australia.

  • Program Structure

    The emphasis is upon environmental design with project-based learning approaches to develop creative and analytical problem solving skills. Particular attention will be given to contemporary landscape issues and design themes relevant to South Australia. The courses of the GradDip program map directly onto the Level II and Level III core courses of the Bachelor of Design Studies (with a landscape studies major) program to provide the required assumed knowledge for entry to the Master of Landscape Architecture program. The GradDip and BDesSt students share classes and work together on team projects.

    The Graduate Diploma can be taken either full-time (one year) or part-time (two years). There are three 6-unit courses and two 3-unit courses in the GradDip program.

      You must have a completed Bachelors degree or equivalent; or, a completed VET Degree with 2 years relevant work experience; or, a completed VET Diploma/Advanaced Diploma with 10 years relevant work experience. All applicants must submit a written statement and design portfolio to the School. Applicants with VET qualifications only must also submit a Curriculum Vitae.

    Applicants must submit to the International Office a portfolio of own work (in hard copy or CD/DVD) demonstrating manual-graphic skills and ability through freehand drawing or sketches, skills in relevant design-related areas, as well as familiarity using a Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software package.
