The Discipline of Public Health in collaboration with the Discipline of Statistics at the University of Adelaide offers high quality postgraduate coursework awards in Biostatistics through the Biostatistics Collaboration of Australia . The BCA is a partnership of leading Australian Universities offering professional training in biostatistics through (largely) distance mode programs. These awards would suit students wishing a career in biostatistics or those wanting to extend the training they received as part of a more general Public Health award. The organisation of the BCA program delivery is unique in the world. A student enrols for the award - Graduate Certificate, Graduate Diploma, or Masters - at their "home" university, for example, the University of Adelaide. The BCA designates one university from within the Collaboration to deliver a particular course by distance to students around Australia, regardless of the university of enrolment. The University of Adelaide, for example, teaches the course "Design of Randomised Controlled Trials" by distance to all students enrolled in the program at any partner university. The BCA programs are supported by the collaborating universities, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, state departments of health, and the pharmaceutical industry.
