  • Program Outline

    The Discipline's postgraduate programs in public health are intended to equip graduates for careers in public health or to broaden the public health orientation of their current work for those with established careers. The programs aim to stimulate students to think creatively about the distribution and causes of health and illness in populations, and about policies and practices that support and improve the health of people. The programs are well known to the South Australian Department of Health, the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing, as well as the Public Health Association of Australia, the Faculty of Public Health Medicine and other relevant public health bodies.

    The Graduate Certificate in Public Health (Grad.Cert.P.H.) consists of coursework and can be completed in one semester of full-time or two semesters of part-time study.

  • Program Structure
    The Graduate Certificate in Public Health consists of core and elective coursework, and can be completed in one semester of full-time or two semesters of part-time study. Students may take courses in the areas of epidemiology, biostatistics, public health interventions, health economics, Indigenous health, social science research methods for public health, occupational health and safety, public health ethics, epidemiology of infectious diseases and environmental health.
