- Program Outline
There will be no intake into this program in 2012 or 2013.
The creative writing programs aim to develop a writer's skill by providing:
- opportunities to work with qualified staff, mentors and fellow writers over an extended period in order to develop writing skills
- opportunities to explore individual approaches to writing and creativity in a supportive, structured environment
- practical experience through the sharing of writing exercises in workshops, as well as skills in research, revision, development of material and critical understanding
- opportunities to contribute to professional journals and other publications. Writers will gain knowledge of the processes involved in editing and publication, as well as distribution, promotion and dissemination
- development of an understanding of the changing possibilities for creative writing in Australia and internationally, from an author's point of view
- encouragement of artistic confidence and independence.
- Program Structure
The coursework program is structured around weekly on campus seminars and individual consultations on work in progress. Information on part-time study is available from the English Discipline office.
Students who choose to leave with a Graduate Certificate may re-apply later to re-enter the Graduate Diploma or Masters program in order to complete a higher qualification. - Assessment
