  • Program Outline

    The Graduate Certificate in Education is designed for teachers, trainers, educational consultants or any domestic or international student who want to further specialisation in curriculum areas or area of education, change their specialist teaching curriculum areas or want to change the direction of their career eg Higher Education, organisation management.

  • Program Structure

    To qualify for the Graduate Certificate in Education a candidate shall successfully complete courses to the value of 12 units. This will consist of:
    EDUC 6550 Educational Policy Studies
    EDUC 6551 Curriculum Development and Innovation
    EDUC 6552 Pedagogical Engagement and Learning
    EDUC 6553 Assessment and Evaluation in Education

    OR 12 units selected from one of the Master of Education pathways

    For the Graduate Certificate in Education's History Curriculum pathway a candidate shall successfully complete courses to the value of 12 units. This will consist of:
    EDUC 5409 Creative Teaching in History Curriculum
    EDUC 5410 ACARA History: Facilitating Student Engagement
    EDUC 5411 Understanding History as a Discipline
    EDUC 5430 History Curriculum Project

    The History Curriculum pathway is only offered online, on a part-time basis.

    For the Graduate Certificate in Education's Publication Skills Education pathway a candidate shall successfully complete courses to the value of 12 units. This will consist of:
    EDUC 5417  Curriculum Issues in Publishing Skills Pedagogy
    EDUC 5415  Interdisciplinary Bases of Science Publishing
    EDUC 5416  Language Analysis Tools for Discipline-specific English
    EDUC 7030  Education Minor Project

    This program does not constitute the requirements for a recognised teaching qualification. Students who are looking to become teachers will need to complete the Graduate Diploma in Education, prior to pursuing a postgraduate qualification.
