The Graduate Certificate in Nursing Science (Apheresis Nursing) is an academic plan designed to enhance the theoretical base and clinical skills of the registered nurse who is working in the area of apheresis. The speciality of apheresis is dynamic and evolving and requires nurses to work at an advanced level. This program provides the opportunity for students to gain a deeper understanding of the assessment and management of patients undergoing apheresis procedures and the technology used. It aims to:
Two specialist courses consisting of Apheresis Nursing I and Apheresis Nursing II can be undertaken over two semesters of part-time study. It is a requirement that Apheresis Nursing I is completed before the student undertakes Apheresis Nursing II.
May include essays, case studies, discussion board participation, presentations, poster presentations, critiques, portfolios and exams.
