  • Program Outline

    This program is designed to provide opportunities for registered nurses to develop advanced skills in evidence-based practice. It provides an introduction to important components of evidence based practice, practice change and evaluation.

    The Graduate Certificate in Nursing Science (Evidence Based Practice Nursing) introduces the concept of evidence-based practice and provides a series of readings and activities addressing the major components of this approach to clinical practice. In particular, structuring a question to determine best evidence, finding and appraising the literature, and implementation and evaluation of evidence based practice. This program is relevant for all registered nurses, but may be of particular interest to those employed in areas such as quality coordination, nurse management and project management.

    This program can be undertaken on a full-time basis over six months or part-time over twelve months.

    May include essays, case studies, discussion board participation, presentations, poster presentations, critiques, portfolios and exams.

    Graduate entry only.
    Applicants must: 1. be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a nurse in Australia or New Zealand, and 2. hold a degree of Bachelor of Nursing or equivalent; or, have at least two years experience as a registered nurse in the field of the specialisation to be undertaken.

    All applicants must ensure they correctly answer the question relating to Nursing current practising certificate when applying on GradStart. SATAC will attempt to confirm their registration on the online register of the relevant Nurses Board but if SATAC is unable to do so, applicants will be asked to submit a certified copy of their certificate.

    Additional Entry Requirements
    Applicants must submit to the School of Nursing a Curriculum Vitae along with an "Additional Information Request Form", downloaded from the website: http://health.adelaide.edu.au/nursing/future-students/postgraduate/coursework/. This form should be submitted within ten working days after applying. Applicants must provide a Curriculum Vitae with the form.
