Innovation and entrepreneurship are at the heart of economic growth and development. An entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to innovate, sets individuals and organisations apart – they are more likely to succeed, build sustainable organisations and grow wealth for their stakeholders and the community.

Our innovation and entrepreneurship programs are designed to develop and inspire creative individuals with an interest in starting or developing innovative ventures that have the potential to make significant impact on markets, economies and communities.

We offer students the advanced knowledge and practical skills required to assess and implement new ideas, create and manage ambitious new ventures, develop entrepreneurial management practices and create supportive environments that foster and enable innovation. 

Innovation and entrepreneurship programs are available in two flexible delivery modes designed to meet the needs of busy professionals: internally via face-to-face intensive sessions and online.

The Graduate Diploma is a 24 unit program of which at least 18 units are core courses, plus electives to the value of 6 units.

Experienced practitioners and accomplished academics blend their industry and entrepreneurial experience to deliver programs that are academically rigorous and new enterprise relevant. Courses reference entrepreneurship-specific case studies and allow students to integrate their own enterprise projects into assignments.

Innovation, Entrepreneurship

Innovation and entrepreneurship graduates are equipped with practical tools to successfully start and bring to maturity new ventures, or alternatively, grow new revenue streams for employers. Graduates can also work within the innovation and entrepreneurship service sector providing consultancy, advisory, financial, policy or other support services to the small to medium enterprises sector.

• Internationally recognised and advanced levels of knowledge and understanding of the process and techniques involved in assessing and transforming ideas into innovation opportunities and new ventures.
• An ability to locate, analyse, evaluate, and synthesise information from a wide variety of sources in a planned and timely manner to facilitate the assessment and transformation of ideas into innovation opportunities and new ventures.
• An ability to apply effective, creative and innovative solutions, both independently and cooperatively, to current and future innovation and entrepreneurship issues, problems and concerns encountered by communities and throughout the new venture process.
• Skills of a high order in interpersonal understanding, teamwork and communication in facilitating and implementing innovation and new venture processes.
• A commitment to continuous learning and the capacity to maintain intellectual curiosity throughout life that emerges innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities.
• A commitment to the highest standards of professional endeavour and the ability to take a leadership role in the community in pursuing the creation, implementation and growth of innovation and entrepreneurship opportunities.
• An awareness of ethical, social and cultural issues encountered in engaging with innovation and entrepreneurship within the global context and the importance of exercising professional skills and responsibilities in dealing with social and cultural issues.

The University of Adelaide has been awarded international accreditation for its Business and Innovation and Entrepreneurship programs from the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) International.
