    Programs are tailored to an individual’s background, interests and career objectives. Students will obtain and extend fundamental competencies in Physics, and study the latest advances in their specialisation under the supervision of academic and research staff who are internationally recognised for their research.

    The Graduate Diploma (24 units) includes 18 units of coursework (9 units core) and a 6-unit research project.

    A completed Bachelors degree in Physics or with a major sequence in Physics and appropriate experience.
    Additional Entry Requirements ?
    If you have not studied at an Australian institution within the last 10 years, you must summarise in your own words the syllabus (including laboratory) for each of the most advanced physics and mathematics subjects on your academic record (up to 4 pages overall). Where available, curriculum documents may be appended to the summary.   • Study Plans

    The study plans ? given are examples of pathways through this degree for students that commenced their program in 2012 (refer to the program rules). Students that commenced in previous years should refer to the tabs above(referring to years) or consult their Faculty for advice.

    Coursework comprising options with an aggregate value of at least 18 units, including at least 9 units from the courses listed in (iii).

    These courses may be chosen from:

    (i) The following list, to the value of no more than 9 units;

    +A maximum of one of these three courses may be chosen

    (ii) Courses listed under Academic Program Rules for other coursework by Masters degrees, subject to approval by the Program Coordinator.

    (iii) The following courses to the value of no less than 6 units

    NOTE: The courses to be offered in any year will be dependant on staff availability and student demand.

    Graduates of coursework programs in physics can choose from a broad range of careers, for example in optics and laser industries, defence industry, telecommunications, meteorology, environmental physics, space & ionospheric physics, geophysics, merchant banking, teaching and bioinformatics.
