Biography/ Background

Brief Research Profile: 2011

My principal research interests have been in the areas of gambling and risk-taking, out-of-come and child protection. In recent years, I have developed an increasing interest in the relationship between clinical pathology/ psychological morbidity and people's susceptibility to cognitive biases, illusions and erroneous beliefs. I have published around 170 papers reports and book chapters in these areas including 95 refereed journal papers and have been a chief investigator on almost 60 grants and consultancies with both state and federal government funding bodies (total value around $5.7m). I have written and presented over 150 conference and seminar papers. Since 2000, I have supervised 50 honours theses, around 30 masters theses and had 12 Ph.D. completions.
