Dr Eoghan Moloney
To link to this page, please use the following URL: Biography/ BackgroundEoghan was born in Dublin and studied at the National University of Ireland Maynooth, before moving on to Darwin College, Cambridge. There, his doctoral thesis considered the appropriation of Hellenic culture by successive Macedonian monarchs in the fifth and fourth centuries BC. Eoghan returned to Ireland to work as a lecturer in his alma mater in 2003. The following year he secured a Government of Ireland postdoctoral position there. Having completed this research fellowship, Eoghan arrived in Adelaide in September 2006. In 2009, the i-Mentor project - developed by Eoghan and Han Baltussen - was recognised by the University Excellence in Education Initiative. In addition, Eoghan won the the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences Prize for Excellence in Teaching for 2009 (in the Early Career Teacher category). Teaching InterestsPreviously, Eoghan has taught a variety of coruses at all undergrauate levels. Currently:
Eoghan also supervises postgraduate work on a range of topics, and would welcome proposals from qualified graduates interested in work on ancient theatre or Greek history.
Research InterestsWhile Eoghan's general research field is Greek history, his work does have a cross-cultural and interdisciplinary aspect. Key areas of interest include the cultural history of ancient Macedonia and also ancient theatre - especially Athenian tragedy and its reception. PublicationsForthcoming Eoghan is currently working on a mongraph entitled Theatre for a New Age: Macedonia and Ancient Greek Drama. He is also preparing an edition of Book 17 of Diodorus Siculus' Bibliotheca and a 'companion piece' on Euripides' Rhesus for publication.
