Research Interests

Development of malting and feed barley varieties for Southern Australia.
Biochemistry and genetics of malt quality, the physiology and genetics of abiotic stress tolerance,and the development and implementation of new Marker Assisted Selection (MAS) strategies.
Currently involved in research projects addressing aspects of barley quality including protein and carbohydrate modification during germination, wort fermentability, and novel MAS strategies for breeding malting barley.
Also involved in abiotic stress research including projects investigating tolerance to salinity, boron toxicity and frost.
