Biography/ Background

I completed a Bachelor of Nursing at Flinders University in 1997. Following this I worked for a number of years in the clinical setting with specific experience and expertise in the field of cardiac nursing.  In 2000 I completed a Graduate Diploma Nursing Science (Cardiac) and in 2003 a Masters of Nursing Science, where I conducted a randomised controlled trial examining the effectiveness of a dressing after CVC removal.  I am committed to the philosophy of evidence-based practice and after a number of years in the clinical setting moved into health care research. While I am interested in both quantitative and qualitative research my specific area of interest lies in the systematic review of evidence. In 2011 I completed my PhD where I undertook a discursive analysis, informed by Foucault, examining the use of qualitative findings as evidence, specifically in relation to their role in systematic reviews.
