Articulation, Credit Transfer and Recognised Prior Learning (RPL)
Universities and TAFE SA have more recently sought to collaborate in various ways for their mutual benefit. The imperatives for these ‘partnerships’ have been driven by external pressures such as fewer resources in a more competitive environment, flexible delivery by both interstate and overseas providers as well as the changing aspirations of students and industry.
To facilitate the expansion of pathways, particularly through the articulation and credit transfer, follow the steps below:
1. initial contact by staff interested in expanding pathways and other collaborative arrangements
Initial contact should be made through the TAFE SA /University articulation and credit transfer coordinator.

2. a determination should be made as to the most appropriate process
For example course information can be exchanged as an initial step, or a meeting can be arranged to discuss course information or issues etc. The contact details of a key subject area expert should be supplied with any request for credit transfer consideration.
3. cross-sector qualifications linkages
The National Guidelines on Cross-Sector Qualification Linkages are a useful guide in providing students with seamless pathways from one qualification to another.
4. specified credit arrangements must be in writing and include endorsement by both parties to ensure consistency and quality control
Templates are available upon request from either the TAFE SA coordinator /University coordinator.
