Ecoleaders

What is an Ecoleader?
An Ecoleader is someone who is passionate about sustainability and is willing to be an environmental ambassador in their area.
Ecoleaders may be asked to assist the Office of Sustainability with promotions, campaigns and sustainability projects, supported with all the information and resources needed to carry out projects in a specific area.
Why become an Ecoleader?
Besides from a massive environmental buzz, Ecoleaders are rewarded with the latest and greatest Ecoversity promotional materials like a KeepCup.
In summary, Ecoleaders will be our No.1 point of contact for all things sustainability for their area on campus. Contact Libby Dowling if your interested in getting involved!

Ecoleader Spotlight
Jane Knipe
HSW Senior Consultant Operations – 115 Grenfell Building
Jane organised an e-Recycling collection point at 115 Grenfell St building for the 2011 e-Recycling event. The collection point made it easy for other staff in the building to take unwanted electrical items for recycling. Jane contacted the Ecoversity team to arrange for the items to be taken to the North Terrace Campus. Thanks to Jane’s enthusiasm and forward thinking, a ute full of unwanted electrical items destined for landfill, got recycled! A big thank you to all the 115 Grenfell St staff who took items to the collection point for recycling.

Andrew Cook
Archives Officer, Archives, Records & Collections - Wills Building
Andrew lead an initiative with the Archives, Records & Collections volunteer group to make weekly morning teas fairer and more sustainable by swapping tea and coffee products to Fair Trade, and changing disposable cups to reusable ceramic cups!
Feedback included this email from Jenny Treloar (volunteer): "I love my new, red mug and the tea was very good- I often buy Oxfam produce myself- so thanks to you (Tupp) and Andrew for your efforts-whether it's scones or environmentally friendly products- your efforts are appreciated."
