2011 Student Internships

Bec undertook a review of the University's Sustainability Policy as part of a student internship. Her work involved reviewing University sustainability policies across Australia and around the world to create a benchmark framework for the University of Adelaide to consider when reviewing the policy.

Ryan undertook an internship with the Office of Sustainability – as part of the ‘Community Engagement’ course – in the Winter semester break 2011.

As part of his assessment, Ryan produced a short video on sustainability at the University below - enjoy!

2010 Student Internship

In 2010 mid-semester break, The Office of Sustainability ran a two week paid internship program investigating the water efficiency and waste practices at the North Terrace campus of The University of Adelaide. The purpose was to gain a better understanding of the following sustainability elements:

  1. Water efficiency – the water efficiency of equipment and fittings, primarily in restrooms but also kitchens and catering areas.
  2. Waste infrastructure and practices – the type of waste collection and recycling occurring across the variety of spaces, specifically in buildings (offices, lecture theatres, laboratories etc).

Three students took part in the 2 week program and presented two well researched papers which are used by the Office of Sustainability to help prioritise footprint reduction projects.
