Landfill

Landfill is waste that goes to a landfill, will not be reused and may take hundreds of years to break down under the ground. Here are some key information about landfill bins.

Bin Colour: Red (lid)

Bin Liner: Black or Clear

What can go to landfill:

• Plastic wrapping e.g. glad wrap
• Foil wrapping e.g. chip packets
• Plastic bags
• Foam cups/trays
• Hot drink cups
• Tissues
• Food waste

Avoid Landfill Waste:

• Look for goods with little or no packaging
• Bring lunches to Uni in reusable containers
• Ask suppliers to take away packaging
• Avoid single-use items and over-packaged items
• Reuse items before throwing away if you can
