Waste WatchersEcoversity’s Waste Watchers Campaign was designed to promote correct waste and recycling practices to students in order to increase recycling rates in a popular cafeteria area on the North Terrace Campus.
The campaign saw new signage and information about what items can/cannot be recycled, movie ticket prizes for students recycling correctly and crafty reminders at tables, bins and on food and beverage containers.
The campaign revolved around two characters Larry Landfill and Rosie Recycling, Ecoversity bin monsters representing the two different waste streams.
On average recycling rates doubled over the campaign period and student engagement on the issue rose through social media.

Food and liquid can hinder the recycling process. Remember to tip excess food and liquid out of containers before you recycle them with Rosie.
