About UsThe Energy Research Cluster was formed at The University of Adelaide during 2005. Its primary aim is to facilitate energy research in multiple disciplines across the University. The University of Adelaide has specalist strengths in the following energy fields: - Turbulance, Energy and Combustion
- Micro-algal Biotechnology
- Hot Rock Geothermal Energy
- Carbon Dioxide Sequestration
- Petroleum Engineering
- Petroleum Geology and Geophysics
- Thermal Performance and Preference in Buildings
- Power Systems Engineering
The Energy Research Cluster sources its members from these research areas, as well as from complementary disciplines within the University including Mathematics, Law, Public Health, Business, Pshchology and Economics. This flexible cross-disciplinary membership model enables the Cluster to provide a comprehensive range of research services to the energy industry. The Energy Research Cluster is one of nine research clusters at the University. Clusters that complement the Energy Research Cluster's activities include the Integrating Sustainability Cluster and the Water Cluster. Research clients include industry and government, both in Australia and overseas. The Energy Research Cluster aims to: - Identify key areas of energy research that can be economically and effectively be delivered by the University
- Develop strong relationships between Industry, Government and the University's energy researchers
- Enhance the expertise of energy researchers at the University by providing a mechanism for promoting interaction across multiple disciplines
- Attract high-calibre researchers to the University by developing and promoting a co-operative, professional research community that is supplied by a pipeline of challenging research programs
- Nurture Early Career Researchers
- Provide a platform for disseminating information of interest to energy researchers and the energy industry
- Bring together funding bodies and researchers in order to achieve mutually beneficial outcomes
The Energy Research Cluster is overseen by an Executive Committee of the University. The Energy Cluster Manager reports to the Executive Committee.
