17 - 20 May 2010
This workshop targeted 2nd & 3rd year PhD students and postdocs new to the area. It was designed for attendees to learn cutting edge software packages with international workshop demonstrators:
- Juan Jose Robledo-Arnuncio: Ramon y Cajal Research Fellow, Spanish Forest Research Centre of INIA, Spain
Listen to a podcast
- Professor Scott Edwards: Professor of Organismic and Evolutionary Biology Curator of Ornithology, Harvard University
Listen to a podcast
Demonstrated software packages included:
Cervus, Poldisp, NM+ (previous version SNM), BEST, Phybase, Arlequin, Structure, & Fstat and MLTR.
Introductory sessions in Population genetics, Gene flow, Mating systems, & Phylogeography were led by:
- Professor Andrew Lowe, University of Adelaide (Fine scale genetic structure, Mating systems analysis, Gene flow analysis)
- Dr Mike Gardner, University of Adelaide & Flinders University (Genetic Diversity, F Statistics, Isolation by distance, Spatial Autocorrelation, Population Clustering)
- Associate Professor Steven Cooper, University of Adelaide (Phylogenetic approaches, Phylogenetic analysis of populations, Coalescent analysis)
