Globally, increasing urbanisation and agricultural development has led to the fragmentation and degradation of natural habitats. We seek to understand the impacts/consequences of habitat fragmentation on the ecological and evolutionary processes of a range of plant and animal species. With an understanding of contemporary ecological and genetic processes we can directly inform conservation planning and restoration practices in order to create functional and sustainable populations that are resilient to future change. Most of us work in collaboration with government agencies (SA DEH, State Herbarium of South Australia, Nature Links, CSIRO), which facilitates the adoption of research findings by governments leading to beneficial environmental outcomes.
