The future of landscapes futures?
The third seminar in the Environment Institute's Science Seminar Series was held Monday April 6. Wayne Meyer presented his vison for the Landscape Futures Program in an engaging seminar entitled 'What future for Landscape Futures? Climate, soil, water, biota, economics and people – researching complexity'.
This seminar is a must for anyone wanting to learn more about institutonal arrangements in Natural Resource Management within Australia.
Wayne Meyer was Chairman of the Steering Committee for the Lower Murray Landscape Futures Project. This project investigated the likely impact of climate change on the landscape of the Lower Murray region under different scenarios of Catchment Management. He was engaged in similar duties as Deputy Chief and Business Director for CSIRO Land and Water and as Chief Scientist for the CRC for Irrigation Futures. Wayne Meyer is developing ground-breaking research tools to select the most effective combinations of water and natural resource management options for sustainable irrigation and natural resources management. He has published key papers on water policies for the irrigation industry in Australia.
