Application Information

LATEST NEWS: Changes to Animal Ethics Application Web Form

Before you begin

Applicants should first read the Animal ethics introduction, Guidelines for seeking ethics approval and clearance requirements, The AEC Animal User's Handbook and Laboratory animal services policies and procedures.

All applications are to be submitted electronically using the online form at the link below. Access to the online form is controlled using the same username and password as your University email account. University staff are automatically provided with an entry in the University directory (LDAP).

External applicants should contact a relevant school or faculty which will arrange visitor username and password for access to the web form. For University of Adelaide Faculty listing go to http://www.adelaide.edu.au/departments/academic/

A new preview procedure effective from Go-Live on 12.12.12 supersedes use of submission deadline dates - these are no longer in place.  Instead close off dates for posting of proposals to the AEC will be two weeks in advance of meetings.  New online applications should be made well in advance of the published AEC meeting dates.

Steps to completing the new web form (AEAWF)

The web form consists of a series of pages each containing one or more questions. Each page is validated as you progress through the form. You can cut and paste text and move easily throughout, and guideline/help information is included at each step.

As primary investigator you must commence the application. You may nominate a first co-researcher to have equal access to the application. Both of you will require entries in the University directory LDAP.

Step by step help text is embedded in the AEAWF.

Uploading of attachments as part of the form now takes place.

Once completed you lodge electronically. An online preview procedure takes place before hard copies are printed and sent to the Research Branch. System generated emails will be sent to you regarding subsequent actions.

It is important to note that all correspondence is now online within the application and that the Primary Investigator email address is used, eg you will receive acknowledgements and requests for further information and revision, and you respond and re-submit online.

As Primary Investigator you will receive a system generated email when online preview is completed notifying that the application is ready for printing copies to submit for AEC consideration. Please provide your application as soon as possible following notification

You produce a print out of the application - this will not resemble the entry pages, it is designed to provide clear and concise, species specific detail for AEC members.

You must submit a signed copy of the printed application as submitted electronically and 16 photocopies to AEC Secretary, Office of Research Ethics, Compliance and Integrity, Research Branch, Level 7, 115 Grenfell Street, University of Adelaide SA 5005.

All applications are to be submitted on the University of Adelaide AEC online form, including when dual clearance is required.

You will receive further system generated email following AEC consideration.  All subsequent project documentation will be available to you within the record online.
