Criteria for Class 5 QAPs

The Class 5 Criteria sets out the requirements and responsibilities for containment facilities utilised for research, analysis and/or testing of imported biological material including micro-organisms, animal and human products and soil. This type of premises includes microbiological facilities, animal facilities and plant laboratories, whether integral or separate to the facility.

The new Class 5 Criteria were issued in December 2005 (although the documents are dated September/October 2005).

Criteria for Class 6 QAPs

The Class 6 Criteria apply to any standard plant house which is to be used for quarantine of nursery stock. Closed quarantine facilities might include glasshouses, polyhouses, igloos, tunnelhouses, etc (excludes screenhouses).

Criteria for Class 7 QAPs

New Class 7 Criteria will be issued during 2006. The QAPs that were previously identified as Class 5.3 and Class 5.4 will be included in the Class Seven category.
