Q: How do I drop a course?

Answer:

You can drop a course at any time online, however you may incur fees and penalties depending on when you drop. You should take note of the following important dates that are also displayed for each course on your enrolment list:

2009
Semester 1 courses:

Last day to withdraw (deletion): 31 March
Last day to withdraw (without fail): 8 May
Last day to withdraw (fail): 5 June

Semester 2 courses:

Last day to withdraw (deletion): 31 August
Last day to withdraw (without fail): 18 September
Last day to withdraw (fail): 30 October

Full year courses:

Last day to withdraw (deletion): 31 March
Last day to withdraw (without fail): 31 August
Last day to withdraw (fail): 30 October

Census Date:

The last day to drop a course without incurring any fees. When you drop a course before this date, it will not show on your academic transcript.

Last day to WNF:

Indicates the last day to withdraw not fail from the course. A WNF grade will be recorded when you drop a course between the Census Date and this date. You will incur fees for the course.

Last day to WF:

Indicates the last day to withdraw fail from the course. A WF grade will be recorded when you drop a course between the Last Day to WNF and this date. You will incur fees for the course.

The important dates can be found

To drop a course in Access Adelaide:

1) Select the 'Student Menu > Enrolment'
2) Select the semester you wish to drop the course from
3) Select 'Drop' action for the appropriate course - you will be asked to verify the drop
4) Select 'Yes' - you will be presented with a confirmation screen with a status of 'successfully dropped'

When you drop a course before the census date, it will not appear on your transcript or enrolment list. When you drop a course after the census date for the course, it will still appear on your enrolment list with an 'Enrolment Status' of 'Dropped' (was enrolled)' with either a grade of WNF or WF recorded and you will still incur the fees for the course.

If you are a cross-institutional student, you will need to go to your Faculty to complete a Course Drop form.
