Q: UG - Can I get credit for subjects I have already studied?

Answer:

In some cases you may be credited with advanced standing (status/credit/exemptions) on the basis of work you have already completed at another post-secondary institution. This is particularly the case with studies taken at other universities, but some TAFE studies are also accepted for credit towards university programs. Information about this can be obtained from the appropriate Faculty or School or from the website http://www.adelaide.edu.au/student/admission/transfer_credit/.

Students seeking advanced standing from overseas institutions must submit a certified copy of their official academic transcript showing all courses studied and the grades obtained, detailed syllabuses (curricula) of the courses they have successfully completed and an explanation of the grading system.

If you are an international student, you will need to indicate on your application form that you wish to be considered for credit (under Question 5 for undergraduate studies), and attach certified copies of:

  • an official record of any subjects currently enrolled in/to be completed

  • the official syllabus/description of each completed/currently enrolled subject, detailing topics taught, contact hours, textbooks used and assessment method

  • If the documents are not in English you must include an official certified translation in English. The International Office, in conjunction with the relevant Academic Faculty, will then assess how much credit you will receive. You will be notified of the outcome with your letter of offer.
