eCommerce Project
What is the eCommerce Project about?
During 2012, the project team conducted an assessment of the current state of eCommerce at the University of Adelaide. It was found that demand for eCommerce facilities was high but there was no University wide approach for providing this service. This resulted in a number of narrowly focussed implementations which were unable to cater for the addition of new services and difficult to share more widely across departments.
The expectation of being able to pay online for University services and goods was not being met and the opportunities for business benefit, customer satisfaction and cost savings through the use of online payment processing not realised. Enhancing the ability to process online payments is a key recommendation for reducing credit card handling risks and increases the University's compliance to PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards).
In December 2012, the University ICT (Information, Communications & Technology) Investment Committee approved the business case and funding for a 2013 eCommerce program. The program objectives are to;
- Significantly increase the use of online payment for goods and services
- Save staff and student time
