PCI Compliance

PCI DSS are a set of guidelines developed by MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Discover and JCB International to assist merchants in preventing payment card fraud and to improve security around receiving, processing and storing payment card details.

Any company processing, storing or transmitting payment card data must be PCI DSS compliant or they risk losing the ability to process these payments.

A project was undertaken by The University of Adelaide to ensure the University is compliant with a set of Data Security Standards defined by the PCI Security Standards Council.

As a merchant it is important that we understand these standards and implement controls to our business environment to avoid potential financial penalties and damage to the University's reputation.
