Asset Management
The Taxation & Assets team are responsible for the University's taxation reporting obligations, providing taxation advice and assistance to senior management and liaising with external consultants and the ATO on complex taxation issues.
The team is also responsible for providing strategic advice on fixed asset management, maintaining the University's fixed asset register as well as the development and maintenance of comprehensive policies and procedures for all taxation and asset accounting.

Taxation responsibilities for this team include:
- Reporting and accounting of Goods and Services Tax, Fringe Benefits Tax, Payroll Tax and any other taxation and excise charges levied by the Federal and/or State Governments for both The University and controlled entities.
- Providing advice to senior management in relation to any proposed new offshore activities and maintaining appropriate accounting and taxation procedures in relation to any offshore ventures the University enters into.
- Assisting all areas of The University in the understanding and reporting requirements arising from the relevant taxation imposts.
- Researching, developing and managing appropriate accounting and administrative procedures related to complex issues including financial advice on salary packaging and fringe benefits tax.
- Liaising with external tax consultants and the Australian Tax Office in relation to complex tax issues to gain specialist advice and rulings.
- Developing and maintaining an efficient and effective asset management financial infrastructure from an operational, control and statutory perspective.
Asset responsibilities for this team include:
- Developing and maintaining an efficient and effective asset management financial infrastructure from an operational, control and statutory perspective.
- Ensuring the University's fixed assets are correctly recorded in the University's financial statements, including liasing with the University's external auditors, faculty/divisional finance managers and asset valuers.
- Overseeing the transactional update of the University's fixed asset register in a timely and accurate manner including capitalisation of assets, depreciation, re-valuations, additions and disposals and the reconciliation of the asset register to the General Ledger.
- Providing strategic advice on fixed asset management.
- Developing and maintaining comprehensive policies and procedures for all asset accounting.
