Entry Criteria
An applicant for admission to the Food Studies Program should hold a tertiary degree from the University of the Adelaide or a degree of another institution accepted by the Faculty for the purpose as equivalent to a degree of the University. Selection into the program is based on previous academic achievement. The Faculty may accept an applicant without a University degree or equivalent on presentation of evidence of competence appropriate to undertake graduate work in this program. Although students without an undergraduate degree may be accepted into the Program they must achieve a result of 65% (GPA 5.0) or more in order to progress beyond the award of Professional Certificate.
English is the language of instruction at the University of Adelaide, and proficiency in speaking, reading, writing, and listening in English is essential. Students who have not completed tertiary studies at an English-language university will need to provide evidence of English competency; minimum required scores for this program are 6.5 overall, 7.0 for Writing and Speaking, and 6.5 for Reading and Listening on the IELTS. If your scores are lower than this, you will need to apply early and arrange additional English language tuition (PEP) to be scheduled before classes start; see the PEP website for details. The cost of this English language program will be additional to the fees for the Food Studies Program. Please contact the International Office for more information on English language requirements including student visa requirements.
