The increase in obesity has hit all age groups in Australia. While there is little doubt that general food overconsumption and lack of exercise contribute to obesity there is increasing understanding that an imbalance in the types of foods we eat contributes to inappropriate fat deposition in our bodies. Trying to identify the foods to be avoided, why they cause our fats cells to accumulate extra fat and identifying foods that will help to reverse this process is a major aim of this research area.
