University of Adelaide Appeal
The gift of higher education through a scholarship, award or grant can change the lives of outstanding students and inspire them to make a difference in the world.
Sixteen per cent (16%) of University of Adelaide students come from disadvantaged backgrounds – from remote or rural locations, or circumstances of financial distress. They are able to come to University because of scholarships supported by our generous donors. By donating to the 2016 University Appeal you can help us continue to open the doors to students who may not otherwise be able to attend university.
Meet our 2016 Augustus Short scholarship recipients.
We also rely on the support of our donors to continue with other important programs that further our mission:
- Through our Children's University and our Journey to Higher Education programs, we are encouraging over 1000 students in the most disadvantaged schools in our State to aspire to a university education, and to prepare themselves academically
- Almost every month we announce significant research discoveries that benefit the health and prosperity of our community. This research is assisted only in part by government funding. In some fields the salaries of research professors, and even the equipment they use, increasingly has to be funded by donors
- Our buildings and facilities also depend increasingly on donors. University facilities have not been paid for by government for a decade: the new Health and Medical Sciences Building we are constructing, for example, is 75% funded by the university itself, from fees, gifts and other income
Please consider making a gift to the 2016 appeal today to allow us to continue with our important work.
