Award for Excellence in Higher Degree by Research Supervision
In 2007 the University will offer an Award for Excellence in Higher Degree by Research Supervision, as well as the long-standing Stephen Cole the Elder Awards for Teaching Excellence. The award will be administered by the University’s Committee for Learning and Teaching Awards. Guidelines for the award and the composition of the Selection Committee reflect the fact that the award is being offered to staff who supervise postgraduate research students.
The winner of the award will receive a certificate recognising their accomplishment and a grant for $8,000, to be paid through their academic unit and used by the winner to assist with their professional development.
For further information refer to the guidelines on the DVC&VP(A) website or contact Barbara Brougham: email, barbara.brougham@adelaide.edu.au; phone, 37457. Nominations close on September 7, 2007.
8th Quality in Postgraduate Research Conference
Research Education in the New Global Environment
17 - 18 April 2008
Stamford Grand Hotel, Glenelg, South Australia
The 2008 QPR conference will be held 17-18 April, at the Stamford Grand, Glenelg. The details for the 2008 conference and the Call for Papers are now available at http://www.qpr.edu.au/2008. The deadline for papers submitted for the refereed proceeding is 15th October 2007. The deadline for abstracts for non-refereed presentations at the conference is 30th November 2007.
For the last twelve years the Quality in Postgraduate Research conferences have provided an opportunity to debate the latest policies affecting postgraduate education; to exchange views on current research and good practice in the field; and to link special staff and student interest groups. Policy makers, supervisors, postgraduate administrators, educational researchers, postgraduate students and academic developers attend the conferences. Staff and postgraduate students are encouraged to present their research on postgraduate education or to make presentations about good practice in research education at the conference. For the purposes of the conference, postgraduate research refers to higher degrees which have a substantial amount of research as a major component. For inquiries about presenting at the conference, please contact Gerry Mullins at gerry.mullins@adelaide.edu.au
You will also be able to register your interest in attending the conference at the conference web site by joining the QPR listserv or by email to the conference organisers at lejla@sapmea.asn.au
The proceedings of the previous seven Quality in Postgraduate Research Conferences, 1994-2006, are available at http://www.qpr.edu.au/. This archive provides an indication of the topics covered by the QPR conferences and is a valuable resource for prospective presenters.
