Annual Review of Progress

With the exception of students who commence in August, September or October this year, all research students, including those currently on leave of absence, are required to complete the 2008 Annual Review of Progress.

Please note it is your responsibility to ensure that your Annual Review is submitted to the Graduate Centre by the due date of 31 October.

You should make an appointment with your supervisor(s) to discuss your progress and another with your Postgraduate Coordinator, or Head of School/Discipline (which your supervisor(s) may wish to attend) for a few days later. After your supervisor(s) and Postgraduate Coordinator or Head of School/Discipline have discussed your progress with you and all parties have completed the relevant sections of the form, you should sign the form and lodge it with the Graduate Centre.

This year the Annual Review packages has not be posted out to students, instead they are available on the web for download at http://www.adelaide.edu.au/graduatecentre/review/ . Supervision And Changes To Supervisory Panel

Change of Supervisor Details
All Higher Degree Research students must be supervised by a panel comprising a principal and at least one co or external Supervisor. The principal supervisor has the primary responsibility for supervision and must be a member of the academic staff of the School/Discipline in which the student is enrolled, or be an affiliate, adjunct or clinical titleholder with that School/Discipline. A co-supervisor may be an academic employee from any University School/Discipline (including an affiliate, adjunct or clinical titleholder). An external supervisor has no formal or official association with the University and does not have affiliate, adjunct or clinical status. Each supervisor on the panel must be assigned a minimum of 20% of the responsibility for the supervision (10% where there are 4 or more panel members) and the principal supervisor must always be assigned a greater percentage responsibility for the supervision than any other supervisor.

Students who wish to make changes to the supervisory panel including changes in % of supervisory responsibilities are required to lodge a 'Change of Supervisor Details' form.

All supervisors are required to sign the form which must be endorsed by the Head of School or the Postgraduate Coordinator. This is regardless of whether the supervisors are being added, removed or are external.

ALL supervisors must be appropriately registered on the University’s Register of Eligible Research Supervisors before the Graduate Centre processes the 'Change of Supervisor Details' form.

Applications for Register of Eligible Supervisors
Staff, Affiliates or titleholders may apply to join the Register of Eligible Research Supervisors by completing the 'Request for Entry onto the Register of Eligible Supervisors' form

An external supervisor who is not a staff member, affiliate or titleholder may apply to join the Register of Eligible Research Supervisors by completing the 'Supervisor Registration External Supervision not an Affiliate or Titleholder' form.

All completed forms must be endorsed by the Head or Postgraduate Coordinator of School/Discipline and the Executive Dean of the Faculty prior to approval by the Dean of Graduate Studies.

More information regarding the Register of Supervisors is available in the web.

PLEASE NOTE THAT NEW SUPERVISORS WILL ONLY BE ADDED TO AN INDIVIDUAL STUDENT'S SUPERVISORY PANEL WHEN A COMPLETED CHANGE OF SUPERVISOR DETAILS FORM IS RECEIVED BY AND APPROVED BYTHE GRADUATE CENTRE.
