The Adelaide Graduate Centre’s next Induction Program will be held on Thursday, 28 February 2008. The Induction, which is compulsory for all commencing PhD and Masters by Research students, provides a valuable orientation to life as a research student at The University of Adelaide.

I am seeking Supervisors from The Faculty of Sciences (including Australian
School of Petroleum (Sciences); School of Chemistry & Physics and School
of Molecular & Biomedical Sciences) and the Faculty of Humanities and Social
Sciences and Faculty of The Professions
Research Students Needed - Faculty of Sciences and Faculty of Health
Sciences
I am seeking senior research students from The Faculty of Sciences (including
Australian School of Petroleum (Sciences); School of Chemistry & Physics
and School of Molecular & Biomedical Sciences) and Health Sciences (including
Dentistry and Medicine)
Supervisors and Students are needed to participate in panel discussion sessions at the upcoming Postgraduate Research Induction on Thursday, 28 February 2008 (from approximately 11:45am to 1:00pm).
Panels will be Faculty based, with each comprising a senior and experienced supervisor, a staff member from the Adelaide Graduate Centre, a subject librarian and two research students from the relevant Faculty. Panel members present a talk on their area of expertise with a general discussion and question and answer session to follow. The discussion group sessions always receive very positive feedback from Induction participants and are considered one of the most valuable parts of the Induction program.

Australian Biological Resources Study Student Travel Bursary
Applications are invited from postgraduate students for travel bursaries to attend conferences relevant to studies in systematics or taxonomy.
Applications to be lodged by 10 March or 10 September 2008
ABRS offers financial support to postgraduate students in Australian institutions to travel to a national or international conference relevant to both the student's research program in systematics or taxonomy and the Aims and Objectives of the ABRS. A maximum of $1 000 is available for an international conference and $500 for travel within Australia. In total, up to $10 000 is available each year for these awards.

Call for proposals: Study to investigate Research and Development uptake in South Africa (RADUSA)
RADUSA has been created to investigate the creation of a conducive climate for science to respond to societal challenges and knowledge uptake by society. The purpose of the study is to assess the current status quo in terms of the nature of the uptake of research and development results in a developing South African context. T
The study will be commissioned with a view to influencing the establishment of a more conducive climate for the uptake of results.
The deadline for proposals is 18 February 2008.

2008 Riversymposium Young Water Scientist Award
Opportunity to enter into the 2008 Riversymposium Young Water Scientist Award is Now Open. Any young scientist currently undertaking postgraduate research on water, through any recognized institution within Australia, is eligible to enter.
The International Riversymposium in partnership with GHD and the Water Forum CRCs will present an award to the Young Water Scientist at the 11th International Riversymposium held in Brisbane , Sept 1 – 4, 2008.
