Does everyone have to undertake the Annual Review?
You are exempt from the Annual Review in the year of your enrolment. (For example, if you enrol in your program in 2011, you are exempt from the Annual Review for that year only.) Similarly, students who submit a thesis to the Graduate Centre on or before 31 October, or whose candidatures lapse on or before 31 October, or who withdraw from candidature on or before 31 October, do not have to undertake the Annual Review. ALL OTHER STUDENTS, including those who are full-time, half-time, remote, on leave of absence, on study leave, or writing up outside, MUST complete the Annual Review.

What if I can't meet a milestone deadline?
If there is a genuine reason why you cannot meet a milestone deadline your Principal supervisor or Postgraduate Co-ordinator should e-mail the Graduate Centre explaining the reason for the delay and giving the date by which the Centre CAN expect to receive the relevant documentation.  It is vitally important that this be done BEFORE the due date because if the documentation is not received on time, your candidature and any scholarship payments may be suspended.  If you do not take action to reinstate your candidature within twelve months from the date of suspension your candidature will be terminated. Further information available in the Research Student Handbook.
