Tuition Fees

International Students

Tuition fees for international students are dependent on the program of enrolment. In 2017, annual fees for a research degree range from AUD$31,000 to AUD$42,000 per year. Further information can be found on the University of Adelaide web site.

Eligibility for full fee scholarships for second or subsequent awards

If you are planning to enrol for a second or subsequent higher degree by research at the same, or a lower level, you will not be eligible for a University of Adelaide full fee scholarship.

Under exceptional circumstances, the University may consider offering you a fee scholarship, provided that at least five years have elapsed since the first comparable award was made and provided that your proposed project represents a major change in discipline.

Please refer to the conditions of award for further information. Additional eligibility criteria apply.

Australian Citizens and Permanent Residents

From January 2017 the Commonwealth Government instituted the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) which provides support to the University on a yearly basis to support domestic and international students undertaking a Higher Degree by Research Program. The University Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) Scholarship Policy is available on the University Policy website.

All eligible domestic students who enrol in a higher degree by research program at the University of Adelaide will be allocated a Australian Government Research Training Program Fees Offset Scholarship which entitles the holder to up to four years of full time funding for a doctoral degree or up to two years for a master by research degree.

Extensions of candidature beyond four to two years respectively may attract fees payable by the University

Further information about the Australian Government Research Training Program is available from the Department of Education website.

Eligibility for an Australian Government RTP Fees Offset Scholarship for second or subsequent awards

If you are planning to enrol for a second or subsequent higher degree by research at the same level, you will not be eligible for an Australian Government RTP Fees Offset Scholarship. Under exceptional circumstances, the University may consider offering you an Australian Government RTP Fees Offset Scholarship, provided that at least five years have elapsed since the first comparable award was made and provided that your proposed project represents a major change in discipline.

If you are not eligible for an Australian Government RTP Fees Offset Scholarship you can enrol in your degree as a domestic fee paying student. The fees for your program are available from the Adelaide Graduate Centre.
