Complaints, Grievances and Problems During CandidatureThe university welcomes student feedback on its academic, administrative and support services. The procedures for providing feedback, including making complaints, are detailed in the Student Complaints Policy, which is available, online at: http://www.adelaide.edu.au/student/grievance/ It is University policy that complaints and grievances are resolved, as far as possible, at the local level. If you have a concern or problem, first raise it with your supervisors. Then, if the matter has not been satisfactorily resolved [or if you feel unable to raise it with your supervisor(s)], with the Postgraduate Coordinator and, if necessary, with the Head of School. Note that if the Postgraduate Coordinator is also your supervisor, you can contact the Head of School directly. Similarly, if the Head of School is also your supervisor, you can speak to the Deputy Head of School or another senior academic staff member of the School whom you find approachable. Alternatively, if you wish to speak to an impartial person outside your School, the Education and Welfare Officers (EWOs) in the Student Union are available to provide advice and may also advocate on your behalf if you have problems or uncertainties in addressing the cause of your complaint or grievance directly. Contact details for the EWOs are provided in the Contact Details section of the Handbook. If resolution cannot be reached at the local level, it is recommended that you contact the Dean of Graduate Studies for advice. Should you wish to lodge a formal complaint or to appeal a decision (e.g. the termination of your candidature) you may do so through the provisions of the Student Complaints Policy. Please contact the Coordinator, Student Policy and Appeals or the Review Officer in the Student Services Policy Branch on 8303 7503 or 8303 7572 respectively. |
