The Code for Responsible Conduct in Research
The code for responsible conduct in research (Appendix 7) guides institutions and researchers in responsible research practices and promotes integrity in research for researchers. The Code shows how to manage breaches of the Code and allegations of research misconduct, how to manage research data and materials, how to publish and disseminate research findings, including proper attribution of authorship, how to conduct effective peer review and how to manage conflicts of interest. It also explains the responsibilities and rights of researchers if they witness research misconduct. From January 2011, some training in regard to the Code will become mandatory for all research students. Similarly, training in animal and human ethics will become a requirement for all students who need the appropriate ethical approval for their work.
The Graduate Centre will provide training as a combination of face-to-face and online activities; further information will appear on the AGC website and in the AGCNews early in 2011.
