Access to Services for Students who are not Currently Enrolled 

In some instances, it may be possible for students who are not currently enrolled to access some or all of the privileges associated with active candidature. These privileges include IT services, use of the University Libraries, building access and insurance.

Counselling & Disabilities Service

Counselling Services provides personal counselling in relation to issues that may be affecting your study. Professional counsellors are available to assist and help you to explore options towards resolving your difficulties. The service is free and confidential.

The University is committed to providing access and equity for students with disabilities or medical conditions. Students can use support services for both permanent and temporary disabilities of a physical, sensory, learning or psychiatric nature.

If you have a disability, you are encouraged to contact the Disability Liaison Officer as early as possible to discuss your individual needs.

The Disability Liaison Officer can provide information and advice on support services to enable you to participate to your fullest potential in the academic and social life of the University.

Education and Welfare Officers

The Education & Welfare Officers (EWOs) provide confidential broad ranged advocacy, counselling and welfare services to all University of Adelaide students. Services include:

  • advocacy and representation in University and external grievances and complaints
  • financial assistance including interest free loans, emergency loans and Centrelink advice and small grants (conditions apply)
  • general academic, personal and financial counselling and information
  • referral and advice.

The EWOs are available between 9.00 am and 5.00 pm on a drop-in basis, but you can book an appointment if you prefer. The EWOs are located on the ground floor of the Lady Symon Building at the western end of the Cloisters and can be contacted on 8303 5430 or by the email address given above.

Access Adelaide

Access Adelaide is a web-based system that lets you view:

  • your enrolment details for any term
  • your candidature details, under the Research candidature menu item (including your research topic, start and end dates, details of your supervisors, and the due dates and completion status of your milestones (e.g. the core component of the structured program and annual review of progress) your unofficial academic transcript
  • your personal details
  • any fees, charges and payments on your University account
  • any University invoices and
  • any coursework results.

In addition, you can change your address and telephone details online, change your password, elect to join the Adelaide University Union and print evidence of your enrolment and apply to graduate.

Printing and Internet Quotas

The University treats postgraduate research students in the same way as staff members with regard to printing and Internet quotas. Consequently, enrolled students have unlimited access to the facilities within their School free of charge for agreed research purposes.

Digital Dial-in Service

As a research candidate, you are eligible to use Adelaide’s digital dial-in service to the University’s network.
